Cardiac Rehab
RMH's Cardiac Rehabilitation program will help your body heal, and will put you on the right path to a healthy lifestyle. The program includes supervised exercise therapy, along with education on nutrition, stress management, medications, and lifestyle changes. It is designed for persons who have had a heart attack, heart surgery or other heart problems.
The program includes:
- education in a group setting on nutrition, stress management, medications, lifestyle changes and daily activities;
- monitored exercise supervised by trained rehab staff;
- the use of specific exercise equipment to help you improve your physical condition and to help you return to work and daily activities sooner.
Participating in the cardiac rehabilitation program will help:
- improve physical fitness;
- reduce feelings of depression and anxiety common after a heart attack;
- provide an opportunity to involve your family in your care and recovery;
- assist you in returning to work and achieving a healthier, more active lifestyle;
- you and your family understand the changes in your life caused by your medical condition;
- reduce the risk of future heart problems.
Your rehab team will consist of a cardiologist, nurses, exercise specialists, a registered dietitian and a medical social worker. The team will work closely with you and your family doctor.

Pulmonary Rehab
The RMH Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is staffed by a team of highly trained professionals under the direction of the program’s medical director, and consists of supervised exercise therapy and formal education focusing upon your lungs and your health. The program is designed to help individuals who have been diagnosed with emphysema, bronchitis, asthma or other forms of lung disease live a more satisfying life.

- Better control over many of the problems that often occur with lung disease;

Participating in the pulmonary rehabilitation program will help:
- Improve your strength and stamina
- Become less dependent on oxygen (if prescribed)
- Understand your lung disease
- Deal with periods of shortness of breath
- Pace yourself so shortness of breath does not occur
- Become aware of signs and symptoms that require immediate medical attention
- Develop a home exercise program
The program includes:
- Group education covering topics such as nutrition, relaxation and coping, medications, medical equipment, breathing retraining, and proper coughing techniques
- Monitored exercise supervised by trained staff
- The use of various types of exercise equipment to meet your individual needs
- Support groups for patients and their families

Pulmonary (PALS) Support Group
Any persons who have COPD or other lung conditions as well as friends or family members of these persons are welcome to attend our support group. Learn more > |
